OLD VINE PETITE SIRAH
Named for Michael's eldest daughter, Margaux ("Mar-ga-roo" was her childhood nickname), the Roux is perhaps our most endearing wine, with its exquisite fruit sourced from grapevines planted in the 1890's until Prohibition.
The Roux is 97% Petite Sirah and 3% zinfandel, all from rare century-old estate vines. Our most powerful, ageworthy wine, the black-inked Roux packs tannins, pigments and flavors into every sip. Big notes of black fruits and roasted meats. This 2010 has fantastic depth, intensity of color with aromas of full toned Boysenberry, Cassis and Blackberry. The wine is substantial, elegant and full of ripe black fruit flavors and crafted to unleash luscious characteristics, while managing tannins. These fruit flavors are savored in the mouthwatering finish, long after the wine has departed.
2011 continues the award winning trends of 2009 (88 Points), 2008 (91 Points) and previous Gold Medals.
